MTLE passing rates by sitting, and what they tell a reviewee

MTLE passing rate for six recent PRC sittings, with examinees, passers, release times and an honest reading of the March and August pattern.

Rates describe a whole sitting. Your own preparation is what you can still change.

The latest MTLE passing rate we can source is for August 2026: 4,204 passers out of 5,634 examinees, or about 74.6%. Rates like this get quoted in group chats and reviewer ads as if they predicted your outcome. They do not, and this post shows what they do and do not tell you.

Below you will find PRC's published counts for six sittings, our own percentages worked from those counts, the release times, the March and August pattern, and the separate overseas special exam. Every count is quoted as PRC published it.

What were the MTLE passing rates for the last six sittings?

Across six PRC sittings from March 2023 to August 2026, the MTLE passing rate ran from 69.5% to 84.1%. The counts below are from PRC's results releases. The percentages are our arithmetic, because PRC's pages in our sources give counts, not rates.

Sitting Examinees Passers Rate Released
March 2023 6,165 4,714 76.5% Three working days
August 2024 5,574 3,872 69.5% Four working days
March 2025 7,659 6,147 80.3% Four working days
August 2025 4,720 3,360 71.2% Five working days
March 2026 9,317 7,838 84.1% Three working days
August 2026 5,634 4,204 74.6% Five working days

The sources are PRC's releases for March 2023, August 2024, March 2025, August 2025, March 2026 and August 2026. We left out sittings whose PRC pages we could not open.

Were any results withheld?

Yes, a few. PRC's releases note withheld results alongside the counts: four in March 2023, one in March 2025, one in August 2025, five in March 2026 and one in August 2026. The August 2024 page in our sources does not state a withheld figure.

Withheld results are not counted in the passers shown above, and the releases do not explain each case. Our rates divide passers by examinees as published, without adjusting for withheld results. Because the numbers are so small, they move a rate by only a few hundredths of a percentage point at most.

The practical point for a reviewee is modest. If your result is withheld, the matter is between you and PRC, so contact the Commission through its own channels. No post, including this one, can tell you why a particular result was held.

Do March sittings pass more examinees than August sittings?

In this window, yes. All three March sittings had higher rates (76.5%, 80.3%, 84.1%) than all three August sittings (69.5%, 71.2%, 74.6%). In 2025 and 2026, the March sitting also had more examinees than the August sitting that followed.

Pair March rate August rate March examinees August examinees
2025 80.3% 71.2% 7,659 4,720
2026 84.1% 74.6% 9,317 5,634

This is a pattern, not a rule. Our sources give counts only, so they cannot show why the pattern appears. One reading, which we cannot confirm, is that the two sittings draw different mixes of examinees. Treat it as a fact about these six sittings and not a forecast for the next one.

How quickly does PRC release MTLE results?

PRC released results three to five working days after the last day of examination in the sittings we checked. The August 2026 release says results came out in five working days after the last exam day, and the March 2026 release says three.

The earlier sittings in the table ran three, four, four and five working days. We cannot say what the next release time will be, since PRC has not stated one in our sources.

PRC's releases also mention what follows. For August 2026, online registration for the ID and certificate opened on 15 September 2026, and for March 2026 it opened on 14 April 2026. Check PRC's own announcement for the dates that apply to your sitting.

If your result falls short, read the passing score post to see which part of the rule applied.

What about the overseas special examination?

PRC also ran a separate MT Special Professional Licensure Examination in Taipei in May 2026. PRC's announcement says "none passed out of 1 examinee". That is a one-person special exam, not a regular sitting.

We keep it out of every rate on this page. Adding one examinee to a sitting of thousands changes nothing, and a rate of zero out of one tells you nothing about the regular exam. It is mentioned here only so you recognise the figure if you see it elsewhere.

The source is PRC's announcement of the May 2026 special examination results. If you are planning an exam abroad, that is a different pathway from the regular PRC sittings, and you should confirm the details with PRC directly.

What should the numbers mean for your review?

They should change how you plan, not how you feel. A sitting's rate describes thousands of other people, so it cannot tell you whether you will pass. Your result depends on a 75% general average and no rating below 50% in any major subject, as Section 19 of RA 5527 states.

Use the rates for context only. Even in the lowest sitting here, August 2024 at 69.5%, more than two in three examinees passed. Even in the highest, March 2026 at 84.1%, about one in six did not.

So spend your effort where you can act. Sit timed sets in all six subjects, read every explanation, and track your per-subject scores against the weights. TerumoEdge's free demo lets you try this with five items per board subject. First-time takers will find more in the first-time taker guide.

What should a retaker take from these numbers?

A retaker should take one thing: a sitting where many people passed still had people who did not, and the cause was in their own result. The counts give no figures for repeaters, so we make no claim about how first-time takers and retakers compare.

If you missed the pass, work from your own rating. PRC's releases say that examinees below passing with a general rating of at least 70% may register as a Medical Laboratory Technician, which is covered in our Medical Laboratory Technician post. That is separate from passing.

Then pick your next sitting. PRC's 2026 schedule lists a March and an August date, and our schedule and exam day post gives the dates and filing windows. Choose by readiness, not by the table above, because a higher March rate in past years is not a reason to rush a weak preparation.

Frequently asked questions

What was the latest MTLE passing rate?

In our sources, the latest regular sitting is August 2026, when PRC reported 5,634 examinees and 4,204 passers. That works out to about 74.6% by our arithmetic. PRC's release gives the counts, and the percentage is our own division of them.

When are MTLE results released?

In the sittings we checked, PRC released results three to five working days after the last day of examination. August 2026 took five working days and March 2026 took three. PRC has not stated a release time for any future sitting in our sources, so watch its announcements.

Why do MTLE passing rates vary between sittings?

Our sources do not say why. They show that March sittings had higher rates than August sittings in this window, from 2023 to 2026. That is a pattern across six sittings, and no source in our set explains it, so we do not offer a cause.

Does a high passing rate mean the exam is easier?

No source we checked says so. A rate counts how many examinees passed, and it does not measure difficulty. The passing standard in Section 19 of RA 5527 is the same, a 75% average with no rating below 50% in a major subject, whatever the rate turns out to be.
